SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 Review

snk arcade classics volume 1

SNK Playmore, which has been active in video games since 1978, collected productions that former players played in person or at least heard their name in one package and made them available for the PlayStation Portable platform. We had seen other companies that had a past release old Productions for PSP in one package, and we had the opportunity to play games that we hadn’t played in years. Because Amiga and Commodore 64 hardware can only be seen in old ones. This time, we remember the past with SNK games.

On the 1.8 GB UMD drive, the firm probably had the potential to fit all the old games; of course, this indicates that the business is more commercial. Because SNK Arcade Classics: Volume 1, as the name suggests, does not contain all of the old games. Volume 1, a compilation of mostly popular games, can also be seen as the beginning of the series in this respect. The compilation of games released between 1991 and 1997 includes sixteen different games. Art of Fighting, Baseball Stars 2, Burning Fight, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters ’94, King of the monsters, last resort, Magician Lord, Metal Slug, Neo Turf Masters, Samurai Shodown, Sengoku, Shock Troopers, Super Sidekicks 3, Top Hunter and World Heroes games is creating in the construction. If you’ve noticed, half of these sixteen productions are combat games. This indicates that producers are in a shortage of subjects and genres, as they used to be now. Because currently, the most examples of games on the market are in the FPS genre. What has changed is that the fighters have been promoted from 2D to 3D.

In one-on-one combat, the titles we see are Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, World Heroes, Samurai Shodown and The King of Fighters ’94. Beat’em-ups or other floating screen fight scenes are seen in Sengoku, Burning Fight, King of the Monsters. Action and sports games share the remaining half of fighting games. Action-style titles include Metal Slug, Shock Troopers, Last Resort; sports-based titles include Baseball Stars 2, Neo Turf Masters, and Super Sidekicks 3. The last remaining Top Hunter and Magician Lord games are in platform style. A notable feature in the SNK is the introduction of the medal system. As goals such as playing at a certain level of difficulty, collecting a certain number of points, or killing – defending are completed, we are rewarded with medals earned. Of course, the reward system is not just a dry medal, we are rewarded with Artwork, music, videos, hidden maps and even World Heroes, which are locked.

Taste of the ancients

Visually, without going through any updates or improvements, in games transferred as is, settings such as screen size, brightness, difficulty level can be made with menu intervention. It is impossible to fail in games, because you are asked if you want to continue where you left off if you have no life left. However, it is also possible to save games to the memory card. In general, SNK Arcade Classics: Volume 1 appeals to players who want to remember the past. Players who have not been able to play these productions before will probably not enjoy the old technology. However, it can also be preferred for collection purposes, or by young people who are curious about the old. It should not be forgotten that the scoring is also based on the old one.
